The Fulton County Youth Commission (FCYC) is a leadership program that provides high school students in Fulton County, Georgia with the opportunity to develop their skills and advocate for children and youth issues. The program is designed to help participants strengthen their leadership abilities, increase their interest in human services, and create a platform for communication between community leaders and youth in Fulton County. Applications for the program are usually available in May. Youth Commissioners are involved in community service projects, which gives them an insight into the various needs and problems of Fulton County citizens. They also provide recommendations to the Board of Commissioners and Fulton County legislators on how to address the issues faced by today's youth.
Since its inception in 1999, the FCYC has been actively working to influence policies, programming and legislation related to children and families. If you're taking a food tour, you can visit some of the local fairs such as the Wauseon Music Boosters donut stand, the Fulton County dairy, pork and veal producer stalls, and Pettisville Music Boosters. These are just a few of the many traits that describe the FCYC, its members and the honorable work that this organization does. The FCYC explores several issues facing today's youth and expresses its opinions to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners on the best possible solutions.
